Nancy Torija

by Richard Stow

for MARLEY

The water’s surface shimmers like a curtain of liquid silk, and beneath it unfolds a quiet reverie—a choreography of light, fabric, and skin that seems both ancient and newly invented.
Where the light refracts into liquid gold and turquoise, Richard Stow captures a moment of serene alchemy.
Nancy Torija does not move through the water, but with it.

Her naked body is a model of effortless grace, shaped by the gentle embrace of the pool.
All around her, translucent swaths of fabric—dyed in delicate creamy tones and vibrant coral red, like living stained glass—sway and drift, capturing and refracting the sunlight that penetrates the depths.
Nancy Torija internalizes the colorful swaths of fabric as an extension of her being—flowing, fluid silk that accentuates the curve of her shoulder, the arch of her hip, and the delicate line of her back, transforming her naked femininity into a dialogue between surrender and weightless grace.

Richard Stow’s images transcend the purely photographic; they feel like a held breath, a silent hymn to the beauty inherent in the body, revealed in the purifying, distorting, and ultimately illuminating light of water.
These wonderful photos featuring Nancy Torija capture a moment in which time seems to stand still, and we pause within them.
