THE RETURN

It is with immense privilege that we present what truly stands as a masterpiece in contemporary art nude photography.
This captivating work, meticulously crafted by the renowned Martial Lenoir and brought to life through the expressive form of model Laure Surlerivage, transcends mere imagery to evoke profound emotion.
Recognizing the depth and collaboration inherent in such art, we had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with Laure herself.
She graciously shared her profound insights and personal reflections, offering a unique window into the creative process and the art form itself for you, our valued viewer.

Let's talk about this recent photo shoot for MARLEY. Can you walk us through a typical day on set?

I’m not sure there’s such a thing as a “typical” day, especially when I’m creating with my partner. Our shoots often start with a deep artistic research phase — I’m usually the one initiating that part. I love exploring locations, building moodboards for styling, sometimes even thinking about the light direction in advance. But when it comes to the actual shoot, it’s much more about surrendering to the moment. It becomes this kind of dance between me and the photographer — intuitive, fluid, present.

Can you describe a moment during a shoot where you felt particularly connected to your body and the creative process?

It really depends, but I’d say the main ingredient is self-trust. When I fully believe in the vision we’re bringing to life, I let go completely. That’s when I feel the strongest connection — when I stop thinking and start feeling through every movement.

Do you have a 'power pose' that immediately makes you feel like you're ready to take on the world?

I don’t like limiting myself to one pose — I actually love how changeable I can be. But if I had to choose one, there’s a pose I come back to often: sitting down, legs crossed, leaning back slightly. With the right backlighting, it highlights my belly beautifully. It feels both powerful and soft.

After a long day baring it all for the art, what's the absolute first thing you wanted to put on or do when you finally wrapped? (Bonus points if it was something spectacularly un-fashion, like giant sweatpants or sprinting towards the snack table).

Oh, absolutely — outside of photo shoots, you’d never guess I pose the way I do. I’m quite discreet in daily life, no makeup, oversized clothes… So the first thing I usually want to do is throw on my giant sweater and blend into the background again. It’s like returning to my cocoon.
